born in senegal in 1968 he leaves africa at 16 to study photography. he starts his career as a decoration/architecture photographer working with philippe starck and christian liaigre. in 1997 he moves to saint barthélemy and publishes his magazine pure st. barth in 2005. pure st. barth is documenting the people and the unique lifestyle of st. barth and became over the years the visual reference of the island. named by many -the eye of st. barth-, jean-philippe is also well known for his portraits of celebrities and art nudes. 
his work has been published in magazines around the world as vanity fair, w magazine, vogue uk, photo and numéro.
